Southern Hills Hospital proudly announces that it received the 2013 Nevada Hospital Engagement Bright Spot in the Silver State Award for demonstrating excellence in patient safety. The award recognizes hospitals for demonstrating high quality patient care and excellence in performance on a select group of patient safety indicators that are reported to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Innovation Center (CMMI), as part of the Partnerships for Patients campaign sponsored by the US Department of Health and Human Services and CMMI.

“Southern Hills Hospital is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of our patients,” said Kimball Anderson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Southern Hills Hospital. “It is imperative that each and every contact we have with our patients and their families is with keeping safety and respect as our top priorities.”

Along with high quality patient care and excellence in patient safety, Southern Hills received the award for its culture and leadership in being the first hospital in Nevada to create a Patient and Family Advisory Committee. Under the leadership of CEO Kimball Anderson, the hospital established a group of past patients and their family members who provide ongoing feedback and receive insight in order to improve healthcare services in southwest Las Vegas.

The Nevada Hospital Engagement Network recruits and provides training and technical assistance to individual Nevada hospitals to facilitate the adoption of evidence-based clinical practices that improve patient care and safety.
